Sculptor Henry Moore said it best: "Art is the expression of imagination, not the reproduction of reality."
Art in the form of painting began in 1990 and regardless of the final image is about the reinterpretation of original source material rather than photorealism.
Imagery from the real world is the inspirational source material for the paintings. Cantons paints using a mixture of traditional painterly techniques and more modern ones where the artist throws the paint at the canvas in a controlled manner.
Photographer Elliot Porter said: "A true work of art is the creation of love, love for the subject first and for the medium second."
Victoria wishes to make the dark appealing and thought provoking through his various paintings. He seeks to find beauty in dark places.
